Coming Soon...
Before we hop in, I just wanted to acknowledge that I've updated my blog design for the first time in three years! I've asked some new people to read my blog, and I obviously want them to think I know what the heck I'm doing rather than someone who's just figuring it out and picked the first theme she saw back in 2016 because she could use her favorite sunset picture. So anyway, after three years and something like 5,000 page views, the header picture actually reflects the title of this blog.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled blogging.
I was just thinking the other day about movie trailers, as one does. If I can slip into my "old man yells at cloud" space for a second, I don't remember trailers being nearly as big of a deal when I was growing up. There's the movie trailer, but before that there's the teaser trailer for the actual trailer, and sometimes the reveal of the teaser trailer is a big deal. I've never been, but every single thing I've heard from San Diego Comic Con is that some incredible something has been "revealed" or "unveiled" and then you watch a video of it and it's...a logo. Or a 5 second teaser of a teaser trailer of an actual trailer of what is eventually, 2-3 years down the line, a movie or TV show that you can finally watch in a theater or screen of your choice. The anticipation almost becomes more of an event than the actual thing.
I'm sure you're thinking, "Lauren, we thought this blog was about, like, nature and peace and vulnerability, and you've never, ever blogged about movie trailers, or Comic Con, or movie stuff at all really. Do we need to click away and then come back when you've had a chance to vent some more, offline, about movie trailer culture? I mean, you literally haven't seen a film in the theater since Coco came out in 2017, and you just generally don't care about movies."
And I would say a) Coco is a gorgeous movie and it is a guaranteed way to get me to weep, b) I am the least film-literate of anyone I know, so please don't come back to this blog and expect film criticism, and c) I have a point. Incredibly marginal, but just enough of a point for me to have an excuse to rant about movie trailers.
This all started because, like every summer since I started this blog, you have not read anything from me in about two and a half months. I have a lot of things to say and some really incredible experiences to share, and this time around it felt strange to just jump back into things. So, I was caught up in the idea of a blog sneak peek or a teaser, and that was when I opened up a Pandora's Box of movie trailer critique that I had no idea even existed in myself.
And, once I allowed myself to feel comfortable in my movie trailer opinions, I had to remind myself that blog trailers aren't really a thing. All that would be is just a blog post that tells you to read the succeeding blog posts. So, I'm writing this blog post to tell you to read my succeeding blog posts. With some buzzy and eye-catching phrases so I can trick you into coming back to reading about nature, peace, vulnerability, and all the other crunchy granola stuff I actually do write about.
So! If you want to hear me type-talk about:

So! If you want to hear me type-talk about:
- facing my fear of heights (again)
- being in community with 30 strangers in the woods
- North Carolina/Tennessee mountains
- campers saying the darnedest things (and actually being the philosophers that guide my life)
- being stuck in a car with myself for ~10 hours
- my cat! (I mean, I'll run out of the actually inspiring and exciting stuff eventually. And she's the best.)
then check back on Sunday, and every Sunday (Yes! Every Sunday! I'm making it happen this time, I promise! Well, sometimes it might be a Monday, but you get the idea.) to see what I've decided to ramble about!
